Post-Christmas Post-Mortem

After recovering from the pre-Christmas rush, I’ve had the chance to do a bit of reflecting on the last few weeks.  Our biggest disappointment was over the limited edition of Martin Parr’s Life’s a Beach.  It seems that, at the last minute, the publisher decided to make only 100 available for the UK market out of a print-run of 1000 with the result that only two of our customers who placed orders well in advance of publication were lucky enough to get a copy.  The second disappointment was the delay in printing Jan Tove’s Silent Landscape but we confidently expect signed copies early in the new year.  Our bestsellers were Michael Kenna’s calendar – as ever – plus two of his books, neither of them new: the 20 Year Retrospective and Huangshan; Jem Southam’s The River Winter, of which we still have signed copies; Bruce Percy’s Iceland; Julian Germain’s For Every Minute; Harbeck & Krug’s Pulp Art Volume Two; Alec Soth’s Looking for Love and Rothko/Sugimoto.  We are out of stock of the last two but hope for more in January.  Our final bestseller was Paul Graham's The Present.  While the first printing is now sold out, his 1981/2011 has just been published featuring images from his first published book, A1: The Great North Road and from his latest, The Present.  I hope you all had a great Christmas and have at least one new photobook to savour.
