The most anticipated arrival of the New Year so far has been Robert Adams’ little volume, Prayers in an American Church. It comprises just seventeen photographs and twelve accompanying prayers. Adams describes it as “an old man’s book” reflecting his “conviction that art and religion come from the same sense of dependence”. At £20, it must be the cheapest title Nazraeli has published in many years and, with only 1000 copies in the edition, it’s likely to disappear fast.
Also disappearing fast were the last few copies of the first printing of Sammallahti’s Here Far Away. Once again, I was caught out and ended up without a copy of my own but Dewi Lewis has assured us that they are keen to reprint as soon as possible, so we are still taking orders.
Best wishes to all for 2013, Neil
