Published to coincide with a recent exhibition at TOKYO PHOTOGRAPHIC ART MUSEUM. Apparently the exhibition is coming to the Bosham Gallery in West Sussex in June and July 2019 but I can’t see many copies of the book still being available then. Using innovative binding, this beautifully produced work is the most recent in Japanese publisher RAM’s ongoing Michael Kenna series, following In Japan, In Hokkaido and In France. But they were slim volumes while A 45 Year Odyssey is more of a ‘proper book’! Kenna personally selected the 100 images in this monograph and has contributed an original essay. It includes previously unpublished work, and it’s good to see some early photos taken in the UK in the 1970s.
To commemorate the traveling exhibition celebrating the life work of Michael Kenna—the world’s most acclaimed landscape photographer—we bring you the photography book, Michael Kenna A 45-Year Odyssey. With representative works of Kenna’s oeuvre, a haunting collection of images created with his sublime aesthetics, as well as previously unpublished work, Kenna personally selected the 100 images in this monograph. Accompanied by the artist’s essays produced for this publication. Using innovative binding, this beautifully produced work is the most recent in RAM’s ongoing Michael Kenna series, following In Japan, In Hokkaido and In France.
