Mark Power's Good Morning America Volume One was due to be published last year but was delayed till February. It's been well worth the wait. It's a project that he must have initiated well before the election of Donald Trump as President but it is impossible to view these images now without seeing them as a summation of the current political situation.
As Mark Power points out, it's also impossible for a photographer from overseas to view the US without being aware of the many famous photographers who have travelled the same paths previously: "I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve looked at my ground glass screen and thought ‘that looks like a Baltz, or Eggleston, or Evans, Friedlander, Shore, Soth, Sternfeld etc.’ so I’ve taken to openly referencing this great history. I can’t pretend it isn’t there."
We're really looking forward to further volumes if they remotely match the standard of this one,
